How long does it take to compound a prescription?

Our pride in offering customized services and products require extra attention to detail and time. Once a prescription has been received, ECCP will call to go over your prescription and confirm when it will be ready. Due to the uniqueness of each prescription a compound could take up to 2 to 3 business days before it will be ready for pick up. One of the staff members at ECCP will call once your compound is ready.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHARMACUTICAL COMPOUNDING AND DRUG MANUFACTURING?

Drug manufacturing is the mass production of drug products that have been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). The products are sold to pharmacies and other healthcare practitioners for resale that are authorized under state and federal law.

Pharmaceutical compounding is the creation of a pharmaceutical (drug) by a licensed pharmacist to meet the individual needs of a patient when a manufactured drug cannot. A patient may not be able to tolerate the strength of a drug or the drug may be on back order, this is where compounding can benefit the patient. Compounding makes sure the patient receives the drug with minimal side effects, at the correct dose with the best route of absorption.

EXAMPLES OF HOW COMPOUNDING PHARMACIST AT ECCP CAN CUSTOMIZE YOUR RX:

-Customize strength
-Flavor (including your pets)
-Take out ingredients you could be allergic to
-Change dosage form (i.e. if one experiences difficulty swallowing pills ECCP could change the dosage form to a liquid or a cream)
